Sorry folks,
I had to work last weekend so there was no Weekend in beads.
I did manage to make a necklace on Monday so without further ado:
I am not one to ever follow a pattern but I saw the original version of this necklace in Stringing Magazine and had to make it asap! (thanks to designer Kristy Greathouse for such a fab design!!) I changed the order of pearl and crystal beads, added some sterling silver spacers between the crystals, oh and I used vintage crystals instead of firepolished glass and voila!
The bicone crystals and clasp were a gift from a friend, the vintage crystals were from my grandmother and the pearls came from Courtney B (Hi Courtney!) that were part of a bead swap round robin YEARS ago. Yep. I hoarded those pearls for "the right project". *wink*
I also decided to go out on a limb and purchased a spot at the Seattle Woad Workshop coming up in May (you can find out more at frenchgeneral.blogspot.com ) What on earth is Woad?? It is this fantastic plant that is use to dye fabric all kinds of wonderful shades of blue! Textiles have slowly crept upon me (it's the bead embroidery's fault I tell you) and I can't wait for the class.
That's about it for now,
Make sure to visit on Saturday for the Bead Soup Blog Party!

This Weekend in Beads...not quite finished yet
I managed to mail all 8 of the packages for my Spring Challenge Swap. Doesn't seem like much but 3 of our group members were international beaders...I hate customs forms lol!
I can't wait to see what everyone does with their kits...it's so much fun to see what different people come up with using the same set of beads!
I had enough time today to start a project...
(I need a real camera lol) the little dark blobs are beads. I am using labradorite, grey moonstone, vintage english cut jet glass beads and Mr. Cool Owl from Green Girl Studios. I splurged and bought 2 more bronze pendants from Andrew Thornton...can't wait to get them! I love the bronze...it's got a really neat ancient vibe to it...and they look like old coins too.
I also was part of an earring swap on Beading Daily and here are the lovely earrings I received from member Jamesdean:
We have never met in person but it's like she was in my closet :)
Well that's it for now!

This Weekend in Beads is back!
Howdy folks!
I have recuperated enough from being sick just long enough to break a tooth (going to the dentist next weekend.) If it's not one thing, it's another.
And now for some beads!
I received my beads from my partner, Charlene for the Bead Soup Blog Party:
And since she hasn't post pictures of what I sent her just yet...here is a picture of the box I put her beads in:
And I have managed to get a few things made:
I made this necklace with a lovely polymer clay pendant that was a gift from a friend, Andrea. The colors of the pendant just make me so happy I keep staring at it :)
And this necklace was the result of another "just putting things away" inspiration. Bronze bird pendant from Green Girl Studios.
Well, other than getting bead packages together for the Spring Challenge Swap that I am hosting and trying to get my taxes done that is about it for now.
